http://www.massively.com/2009/06/27/highlights-from-the-soe-fan-faire-2009-community-address (sorry, board not letting me link today)

Might need to scroll down a tad to see the SWG part.

My question is WHAT WERE THEY THINKING? (and this from someone who isn't exactly a SW purist)!!!

Discuss.

Sorry I got sick right after Fan Faire so haven't been able to post.

The Death Troopers is simply a cross-promotion opportunity. Does it make sense? Not in my view but given the number of vampire wannabees I've encountered on other servers I suspect this will be just as popular as Ewoks with wings shooting arrows of love....

For me the big news coming out of Fan Faire is for the Chronicler system. We're being given the tools to design and build our own quests, including bringing in "comm messages" from some of the Iconic heros (Han, Vader, Jabba, and Boba to start). We'll be able to trade or sell the quests we build so that other players can complete the quests and get rewards.

In other words, taking the Archtect system from City of Heroes (they have a way you can create quests that can be played in a holodeck type environment..) and refining it a bit. Just look out for those who will take their quests and turn them into XP farms for the powerlevelers....but it's not a bad thing. You could probably do TCB quests in the Chronicler system. Just one question, would you also be able to create your own npcs? Eg: Veth as a boss mob, or Mellie to escort out of dungeon...

And glad you are feeling better, Ikewe. Was getting kinda lonely over here by myself....

The first release of the chronicles system will be fairly basic so I don't think you'll be able to create your own NPCs. However, it's s tie in to the current StoryTeller system so I suspect that with additional patches there will be a lot more flexibility.

All gameplay options will be represented, entertaining, crafting, PvE, and PvP. That's the part that has me looking forward to this system. Imagine a cantina crawl where participants are given a story/quest. As they are performing they can get comm messages from Han Solo or Darth Vader, that sends them on an information retrieval mission and then later they receive another comm message to make a delivery of the information they received.

I think this system will be more work than a powerleveler wants to expend, especially since they have plenty of other camp spots where they can powerlevel.

Is the Death Trooper novel out yet?

I keep up on the Star Wars novels for the most part, but I am interested in seeing if they can make a survival horror book work.

It is supposed to have everyone's favorite scruffy looking nerf herder in it.

This is not a war against evil, or even one of freedom. Its a war to save our very way of life, our loved ones, and our futures.

Ayden Storm makes an appearance in Death Troopers?  oh ..  wait..  you mean that other scruffy nerf herder

Release date for Death Troopers in October I think.  Or that's my memory at this point, no telling how accurate that is any more.

I used to love Star Wars novels, but they are hit or miss for me these days.

These SW zombies will probably be either a Sith weapon or something the empire cooked up that got out of control.
